I think no one will raise his hand because everyone is tired of knowing the harm caused by addiction to smoking.
But if everyone knows the problems caused by smoking, as the government continues spending thousands and thousands of dollars in campaigns and more campaigns?
Well actually these campaigns are just another way to burn a lot of money we pay in taxes.
That agency does not want one of these contratinho?
Remember the monthly allowance, remember the Duda Mendonça, whose advertising contracts with the government earned more than 60 million? (Search the net) If our leaders really wanted to do something serious and effective, they would act first on encouraging tobacco farmers to have other options for growing, then they would take all this money wasted on campaigns "stuck" and apply the border police to fight smuggling it's another scandal in Brazil, while internally put more and more taxes in cigarette prices, reversing this additional revenue for treating victims of tobacco.
Imagine how many people have the nerve to pay 20 or 30 Reais on a pack of cigarettes?
So my friends so that people begin to worry and stop smoking, just raise prices and ensure that contraband does not enter the country.
The truth is that they burn a lot of money in these campaigns to pass the image that people are worried, but everything has its layout, everything has its hidden motives, are made with cheap sensationalism and images of mutilated corpses, but do not actthe source of the problem, do not act in a truly effective, they do nothing other than self-interest as the government collects too much money on the tobacco industry and it is not clear where these resources are applied.
Unfortunately, smoking is the leading cause of deaths could be avoided in the world and according to World Health Organization (WHO), smoking kills 10,000 people a day!
The point is that people never imagine that could happen to them, always think the other is going to get cancer or have a heart attack. This is human!
So the way to help these people to kick the habit, is where it hurts in the pocket. I used to smoke a lot in my life and I know the evils that smoking brings to health, but I would not dare to give 30 Reais on a pack of cigarettes. You would?
There is no impossible problem to be solved, there is lack of political will.
Today in my moment of silence, I kill the longing and take a sip ...It's even cheaper!
